MDCA Away from Home: “Ser. Rana” by Sonia Franco
Aventura Arts & Cultural Center
Event Navigation
FUNDarte and Miami-Dade County Auditorium presents “Ser. Rana” by Sonia Franco, with Flamenco Spain Arts and Culture (formerly Fundación Casa Patas), on Saturday, November 2 and Sunday, November 3 at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center. Part of FUNDarte’s annual FL.Flamencos series.
Created by Sonia Franco Gutiérrez, dancer, choreographer and actress who has premiered dance shows around the world, “Ser. Rana” is an omen. It is an experience that transforms movement and releases the desire to dance, like water that cannot be contained, like the flow of the river that you have inside you and does not cease, transforming your body through flamenco while you travel through impossible scenario… like the frogs that get lost outside their pond. With original music created for this trip, flamenco is at the service of the movement and connects directly with the viewer through a minimalist aesthetic. Only music and dance reveal what lives in the body that, animated by life, resists the sordidity of the world.

This performance is part of Miami-Dade County Auditorium’s Away From Home Series. Programming continues to thrive during this period of renovation through the Away From Home Series. The series consists of off-site performances presented at alternative venues with community partners, ensuring that the magic of the performing arts continues to captivate audiences throughout this transition period. The Away From Home Series presents dance, theatre, and music performances that take place at a variety of South Florida facilities and cultural centers. MDCA remains committed to keeping the spirit of creativity alive during this monumental endeavor and invites you to join us away from home!
