Cuban Classical Ballet presents “Le Corsaire Suite”

In this classic performance the Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami will highlight excerpts from one of the most musical and visually exotic ballets of the 19^th century. “Le Corsaire Suite” is a tale of Sultans, princesses, maidens and pirates, with a libretto based on the poem The Corsair by Lord Byron. It was first presented by the Ballet of the Académie Royale de Musique, Paris, France in 1856, originally choreographed by the Ballet master Joseph Mazilier to the music of Adolphe Adam. The ballet has many celebrated passages which are often performed independently – the scene Le Jardin Animé, the Pas d’Esclave, the Grand Pas de Trois des Odalisques, and the most celebrated, the “Le Corsaire Pas de Deux,” among classical ballet’s most iconic and performed pieces.
