“Operation Birdsong” is the second in a trilogy of contemporary dance and visual art companion pieces for brigid baker wholeproject that will conclude in the spring of 2022. They include “Crown,” “Operation Birdsong,” and “Return of the Bird Tribes”. Big change this way comes. Beginning in the 1990’s and spreading throughout their kingdom until our current time, sparrows have “changed their tune” with unprecedented rapidity. The pandemic brought quiet to the birds and enabled them to hear each other on a wider scale and vary their communication, bringing a coming together. They sing more quietly in a lower tone, but with more flourishes. North America has lost 3 billion birds since 1970.
